Mcdonald's Runaway Robots

1987 I was 13 years old. I just started 7th grade. Most people were completely out of collecting and playing with toys at about, well 10 years old in my school.

 Not me!

I still played with all my toys and legos and absolutely avoided being a teenager!  I can tell you now that somehow, that stuff gets around fast and everyone will use it against you real quick! you get horribly messed with if you were even caught in toy aisle of a store. It was just the end of you. you would get met with the worst barrage of name calling you could imagine! That stuff will stick with you for years! For example, I went on a date with this beautiful girl named Maria. Her ex-boyfriend who actually went by the moniker "Ricky" was absolutely against her dating me. (you can already see that I never went on another date with her and Ricky weaseled his way back into her life.)
"Ricky said you still play with toys." She told me on the phone. I was well aware that he hated me. But coming at me from all angles like this had me a little confused at first.

Mcdonalds came out with a happy meal toy that was pretty cool called Runaway Bots.

I escaped into the realm of toys and wasn't too picky about the toys that I collected. Mainly anything like that resembled a robot or some sort of machine. So I got McDonald's and used the excuse of not really being very hungry so I could get a Happy Meal. Around that time, they had a toy called Runaway toys.

They each had names as well.

Beak was the blue one with the standard tank treads.
Coil was the green snake bot that had a simple design that worked wonderfully.
Bolt was the purple one that looked rather odd, since its face was less to be desired.
Jab was the yellow android looking one and leader of the heroic Runaway Robots.
Flame was the red dragon robot.
Skull was the black one and not rather skull like, aesthetically. He was the leader of the Evil Captabots. He follows the good guys thru time bent on their destruction.

The ones that I was able to get back then was Coil and Flame. But I have collected the others over the years. For a very simple, "Pull and Go" toy from a happy meal. I have always loved the look of these Robot toys and am still trying to find out how designed these little guys. Who knows. Maybe I will someday.

What was your favorite Happy Meal toy?

What happened to Scott Trakker and T-Bob?

So what became of Scott and good ole' T-Bob you have probably asked yourself, never!

Well, fear not! I have been thinking long and hard for all of you that have completely forgotten about Moblie Armored Strike Komand. I just recently discovered that I turn into T-Bob when introduced to vertigo-inducing heights. I just holler/yodel just the little bot who is scared of everything.

Which got me to thinking about Scott. The irritant of the cartoon.I loved all the other members of the M.A.S.K. and V.E.N.O.M., but I never cared for him. As an adult, I understand why his character was in the cartoon but the 1985 version of me, couldn't care less.

Thinking about what he is up to now is something that I never really thought about before. I thought at first that T-Bob would have been turned off and put into storage once Scott hit puberty, or went away to a private school or was an Intern at a mega-corporation as a favor for Matt. But once I thought about it, I realized that Scott would never be school material. He'd be hooked on a drug called "the adventure"!

For unknown reasons, Scott and T-Bob are not present in the second "Racing" Season. Maybe that's when he started money off the patents from T-Bob's A.I. and chasis software, including the "uni-balance wheel system".

Most of the series of M.A.S.K. was about stopping Mayhem from discovering some ancient weapon from some undiscovered locale and that was about it really. Sure there were some other episodes that dealt with stolen tech, but really. The bulk of the show had to do with treasure hunting. So naturally, that would be what Scott would fall into. Since he created T-Bob, you can see that he's a genius level robotics engineer. So you would be thinking that Scott would go on and make his way in the world by starting a robotics company.

Scott Tracker, after reaching adulthood became a treasure hunter. He and T- Bob go off and find hidden treasures, and when he finds them, he posts the findings on his website and museums would have a bid off on who should get the treasure items before anyone else, that is if the countries that he found the treasure in, would allow him to do it. So, yeah. That's what my brain thinks about.
I think T-Bob today would like like Zaborgar.
